As we are now teaching a flexible 10-week IELTS course, here is some useful information about the qualification and what the course involves.
IELTS stands for the International English Language Test System, which is a recognised qualification of English language proficiency. There are two versions of IELTS: the Academic Test and the General Training Test. The Academic Test is for the students who aim to study at a university level in an English-speaking country. The General Test is for those who need the qualification in order to do work experience or training programs, go to secondary school or to migrate to an English-speaking country. Both routes cover the necessary elements to ensure that you are totally prepared for the examinations at the end of the course.
Our 10-week course involves classes including teacher explanation, individual and pair work, class discussions and practice activities. Exam techniques and formats will also be covered so that you know exactly how to complete the tests.
The IELTS examination process consists of four components: Listening, reading, writing and speaking, and are graded using a band scale. Using this band scale, a score between 1 and 9 is given for each test. These individual grades are then used to provide an overall band score is given.
